The Luminette uses the latest state-of-the-art technology and was developed specifically for the Beauty Industry to offer a wide variety of effective treatments.

The flashlamp (IPL handpiece) generates very short intense pulses of light, that are filtered to release only the wavelengths absorbed by the target. The strength and duration of the pulse is also tightly controlled to ensure the target is selectively heated to a point at which it is destroyed, whilst leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed.

The system uses an intense pulsed light source and the energy from the light is taken up by melanin, the pigment in hair and sunspots, freckles etc. or by blood vessels in red vein removal and skin rejuvenation. It is virtually pain free. No anaesthesia is required. Most clients describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable, and liken it to a rubber band being ‘pinged’ against the skin.

80-90% hair reduction can be achieved after 6-10 regular treatments. Broken Veins and Pigment require approximately 1-5 treatments. Skin Rejuvenation and Acne require approximately 6 treatments for maximum results. Treatment times vary according to the area being treated and sessions can be as short as 15minutes for a small area (e.g. Lip) or 2 hours for larger areas (e.g. Full Leg).

A consultation and patch test must be carried out prior to any full treatment to ensure that there is no adverse skin reaction. Most clients experience no side effects other than redness, which disappears in a few hours.

The skin is cooled prior to treatment with an ice pack and a layer of cooling gel is applied, and the gel also aids penetration of light into the skin. Therapist and client must wear goggles for eye protection and a cooling aloe vera gel is applied after treatment.

Clients should avoid tanning and must not use any fake tan 4-6 weeks ahead of and during the entire treatment period to avoid excessive discomfort from light absorption in the epidermis. Immediately after the treatment the skin is particularly sensitive to UV light, and strong sunlight should be avoided for 1-2 weeks or a sun block should be used to protect the treated area for one month following treatment. Clients can wash and bathe as normal after treatment and it is advisable to keep the area moisturised.

These cannot be treated:

Black and sun-tanned skins cannot be treated.
White, grey or fair vellus hair does not respond to IPL treatment.
